MR. BLACK GOES TO WASHINGTON!

No, not as a Member of Congress. But on February 12-13, 2007, Mr. Black is going to Washington, D.C. to lobby Congress on behalf of you, his clients, in his capacity as Texas State Chairman (Southern District), of the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA).

The current bankruptcy law was changed in October 2005, due to lobbying by the credit industry. Now it’s time to bring some balance back to the law. Ordinary consumers have rights, not just the big credit card banks, the credit unions, and the auto finance companies. Tell me your experiences, and I’ll share them with your Members of Congress!

WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO TELL YOUR

MEMBERS OF CONGRESS?

1. Did your creditors treat you fairly or unfairly? Please explain.

2. Did your creditors or bill collectors do anything to cause you to get into financial trouble or cause you to file bankruptcy?

3. Should the Bankruptcy Laws be more strict? Why? Less strict? Why?

4. Should there be more controls over what creditors do? Why or why not?

5. Is the new Bankruptcy Law that went into effect in October, 2005, with all its additional complexity and paperwork, its higher filing fees and attorney fees, fair to consumers facing bankruptcy, or is it not? Why or why not?

O Overspending OForeclosure O Harassment
