Houston, Texas, January 16, 2001–J.Thomas Black, Attorney at Law, has been authorized by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards (CFP Board) to use the marks CFP, Certified Financial Planner, and CFP with flame logo in accordance with CFP Board certification and renewal requirements.
These marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of the CFP Board, have successfully completed financial planning coursework and have passed the CFP Certification Examination covering the following areas: the financial planning process, risk management, investments, tax planning and management, retirement and employee benefits, and estate planning. CFP certificants must also agree to meet ongoing continuing education requirements and to uphold the CFP Board Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility and Financial Planning Practice Standards.
The CFP Board is a nonprofit professional regulatory organization founded in 1985 to benefit the public by fostering professional standards in personal financial planning. The CFP Board owns the marks CFP, Certified Financial Planner and CFP with flame logo and authorizes individuals who have met its education, examination, experience and ethics requirements to use them. More than 35,000 financial planners are presently authorized to use these marks.
