HEADS UP: BANKRUPTCY FILING FEES TO RISE AGAIN
December 27, 2005
Return To Archives
In late December 2005 Congress passed the Budget Reconciliation Act that, among other things, will raise the filing fees for bankruptcy cases upon signature by the President. The increases will be IN ADDITION TO the fee increases already imposed by BAPCPA.
The new filing fees (including misc. fees) will be:
CHAPTER 7 $299
CHAPTER 13 $ 274
CHAPTER 11 [unchanged]
This does NOT INCLUDE the attorney fees, this is just the filing fees that the Court requires for the fiing of a bankruptcy case.
The effective date is 60 days after signed by the President. Signature is pending. Chapter 7 trustees are continuing to lobby for an increase in their fees.
