Once a year each person can get a free credit report. This was mandated by the “Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act.” By phone contact 1-877-322-8228 or online at AnnualCreditReport.com
WARNING: If you have, or think that you may have, a dispute with one or more of the credit bureaus, DO NOT ORDER YOUR CREDIT REPORTS VIA INTERNET. You must agree to Arbitration of any disputes, to obtain your credit reports via internet. If you arbitrate your disputes, you may lose important rights that you are otherwise guaranteed by federal law pursuant to the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, including your right to a trial by jury of any claim that you may have for damages. It will not give you your credit score. If you want the score you can obtain it for $5 to $7 from the three reporting agencies. Also consider additional services such as notification each time your account is accessed by someone requesting a credit report on you or just to receive recurring periodic reports.
