Congress will work to pass bankruptcy abuse reform, with credit unions’ help, House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) told the closing general session of Credit Union National Association’s (CUNA) Governmental Affairs Conference on Wednesday, the association announced. Blunt noted that during the last session a provision that created a marginal difference between the House version and the Senate version of bankruptcy reform was added “to see if it could kill the bill.” But this year, a bill should come out of the House “no later than the April break. I am convinced that with the help of our friends and if the new leadership gets serious about it, we can accomplish things and get this done,” Blunt stated, according to CUNA.
