Congress returns to Washington next week after its month-long recess and with its return, will resume work on the bankruptcy reform legislation (S. 420 /H.R. 333). The House-Senate conference committee will most likely meet in mid-September, a House source said.
Aides to House and Senate conferees met on Aug. 10 to discuss general matters and try to resolve outstanding issues. It was reported that participants reviewed a side-by-side comparison of the bills that had been prepared by House Judiciary Chairman James Sensenbrenner’s (R-Wis.) staff, but no other information was made available. Sensenbrenner will chair the conference committee.
