AMERICA LOSES GREAT U.S. SENATOR IN PLANE CRASH

October 25, 2002

U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone(D-MN), died today in a plane crash with his wife and daughter, and several others. Senator Wellstone was a champion of the “little guy,” and he was a big help in preventing the major consumer credit grantors from forcing “bankruptcy reform” upon the American people. He will be sorely missed.

He was described as follows in a recent Associated Press story:

“Wellstone led crusades against bills he felt put the average Americans at a disadvantage. He railed against still-to-be-enacted bankruptcy reforms that enjoy overwhelming support in Congress as benefiting only banks, credit card issuers, automobile finance companies and retailers at the expense of people who “now find themselves in brutal economic circumstances.””

We will all miss Senator Wellstone. It’s a tragic day for America and American consumers. Tom Black
